Arts Development Action Plan

Creative Strabane

Chairman of Strabane District Council Thomas Kerrigan and Arts Development Officer Jean Smyth came together this week in the Alley Theatre to promote the development of a new arts development action plan for Strabane District Council for the next three years.  The Arts Strategy from 2013 – 2015 will include various elements such as: Music, Dance Performance, Drama, Creative Writing, Visual Arts and Festivals to name but a few.

Arts Development

Arts Development Officer Jean Smyth explained ‘We are looking to engage with Strabane residents on developing an Arts Development Strategy for the next three years.  We would appreciate input from individuals and groups who are interested in Arts and Culture and are willing to give us their opinion on what helps or stops them participating in the arts and cultural events.  We will be holding a number of consultation workshops throughout the district in the following venues: Sollus Centre, Bready  -  Saturday 23rd March from 11.00am-12noon, Derg Valley Care, Castlederg- Wednesday 20th March from 10am -11am, Earlsgift Hall, Donemana - Wednesday 20th from 2pm-3pm , St Eugene's Hall, Newtownstewart - Wednesday 19th March from 8.30pm-9.30pm, Parochial Hall, Plumbridge -  Wednesday19th March from 7pm-8pm and
Strabane Library - Saturday 23rd March from 1pm-2pm.  We also have two short surveys available online for groups and individuals.  The purpose of these consultations and surveys is to support and develop the arts and creative industries so that they can thrive and continue to benefit the people of Strabane District. The surveys will close on the 25th March with information collated at the end of March’.
